Exact Beef® is a non-salt, self-limiting feed designed and researched to be fed to all classes of pasture cattle. Exact Beef® is a convenient self feeding program that can limit and maintain desired intakes.

  Management for Calves:

  

  • Feed a pelleted creep feed until intake reaches 2 to 3 lbs. per head per day.
  • Once intakes are established on the pelleted creep feed, then when the feeder is down to approximately 25% capacity, add Exact Beef Creep on top of the conventional creep.
  • Exact Beef Creep is a mix of 20% Exact Beef with 80% cracked or rolled corn.
  • Feed Exact Beef Creep ad-libitum until weaning.

  Management for Stockers:

  • Locate the self feeder near the water supply.
  • Feed hay in and around feeder to entice cattle to the self-feeder.
  • Offer Exact Beef Developer in a 20% Exact Beef, 80% cracked corn mix until intakes are established at approximately 2-3 lbs per head.
  • Once intakes are established, then transition to the next mixing level to maintain intakes at approximately 1% body weight.
  • Mixing rate for stocker cattle:

  • Watch intake of cattle. If intakes increase above 1% of body weight, then move up to the next mixing level.

  Not recommended for slaughter cattle or to cattle over 900 lbs.

  Management for Cows:

  • Locate self-feeders next to the water source until intakes are established, then move away from water gradually.
  • If cows are not accustomed to self-feeders, then they may need to be enticed by hay around and in the feeder.
  • Mix 80% Exact Beef with 20% cracked or rolled corn.
  • Feed 80/20 blend until intakes reach approximately 2 lb/head. Will take 3-7 days.
  • Switch to 100% Exact Beef after intakes are established.
  • Intake will be low the first couple of days. Then consumption will increase quickly over the next 1 to 3 weeks. After the 3rd week, intakes will level off to around 2-3 lb per head.
  • Factors that will affect intake on Exact Beef:
  • Size of Cow
  • Production Stage (e.g. Nursing, Final Trimester of Gestation)
  • Quality of Forage

  The higher the demand for performance of the cow, or the lack of good, quality forage, will increase the consumption of Exact Beef.

  Caution:

  Do not allow horses or other equines access to feed containing Monensin. Ingestion of Monensin by equines has been fatal. Monensin medicated cattle and goat feeds are safe for use in cattle and goats only. Consumption by unapproved species may result in toxic reactinos. Do not exceed the levels of Monensin recommended in the feeding directions, as reduced average daily gains may result. If feed refusals containing Monensin are fed to other groups of cattle, the concentrations of Monensin in the refusals and the amount of refusals fed should be taken into consideration to prevent Monensin overdosing.

  Warning:

  A withdrawl period has not been established for this product in pre-ruminating calves. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.
