The raising of game birds for hunting preserves and release into the wild is becoming increasingly popular. As urban sprawl gobbles up more habitat, the commercial raising of pheasant, chukar, and quail has experienced dynamic growth. Landowners and preserves that can guarantee hunting success are flourishing and have provided fantastic income opportunities. The key to this success is raising healthy, energetic birds that thrive in a captive environment and can be transitioned to the wild. To achieve these goals, a balanced, nutritious diet encouraging these birds to fully express their genetic potential and brilliance must be fed. The Kent High Flyer™ line of feeds will help you get the job done.
Kent Feeds leads the industry in the manufacture and distribution of top-quality feed products. All Kent High Flyer™ feeds are produced with the highest quality grain and protein sources to ensure fast, efficient, lean growth. Highly bio-available major and trace minerals build strong bones and healthy bodies. Vitamin fortification raises immunity and disease fighting ability.
Thoroughly clean, then disinfect the brooder house using SYNERGIZE®. Game birds can be floor or battery (on wire) brooded. The brooder should be turned on one day before birds arrive and a temperature of 95°F should be achieved at bird height upon placement. Maintain 95°F for the first week, decreasing 5°F per week until the outside temperature is reached. Adjust temperature by "reading" the birds. Ideally, the birds will appear active and evenly dispersed throughout the brooder. A brooder guard or ring should be used. It is usually an 18" high roll of cardboard or hardware cloth circling the inside of the brooder to eliminate corners where young chicks can pile up. Use cardboard in the winter to reduce drafts and hardware cloth in the summer to improve ventilation.
