  Feed 4-6 lb/hd/day of a Kent sow gestation diet.

  After Farrowing

  Work up to full feed in 3 to 4 days. Feed a prolific lactation diet as the sole feed until weaning.

• ISL™

  ISL is an inorganic laxative product to be fed to sows or gilts to reduce constipation at farrowing time. Start feeding 7 days prior to farrowing and continue for 7-14 days post-farrowing. This product can be used in a grind and mix diet or top dressed.

  Mix 25 lb of ISL per ton of complete feed for lactating sows. Add ISL to the diet in place of corn.

  Feeding Directions

  1. When feeding the complete diet with ISL, feed 4-6 lb per head per day starting 7 days prior to farrowing. Increase to full feed in 3-4 days after farrowing. Continue to feed for 7-14 days after farrowing.
  2. When using the diet containing no ISL, top dress ISL at the rate of 1-2 ounces/head/day if constipation is a problem.
  3. Additional ISL may be top dressed on any farrowing diet to sows severely constipated. Top dressed ISL should be hand mixed into the daily diet to improve palatability.
  4. The need for laxatives varies between herds. If sows are too loose on 25 lb/ton of ISL, reduce the ISL to 12.5 lb/ton.
